The Triune God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit)--The Vital Meaning of LifeMy life began as one of three children, which included a brother and a sister. Each of us, when infants, was christened into God's family--dedicated as a child of God. My ancestors, and of course, my parents, had a strong belief in a sovereign God. As a family, we attended church faithfully; church services and church related activities were the center of our family life. We believed in God's Son, Jesus, and His name was very meaningful in our lives. According to Philippians 2:9 ...God highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the highest Name which is above every name. The name of Jesus was most prominent throughout my developing years, yet as I approached mature adulthood, there was a realization that I needed to grow spiritually. The Lord led me on and created an increasing hunger within me to know Him in a deeper and more subjective way. Therefore, by 1978, at a Christian gathering, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior; this was most significant, but there was still something lacking. I knew of Him, but not in a personal, subjective way. During 1979-80, the Lord led me to attend an interdenominational Bible school, which proved beneficial, but I still lacked a meaningful subjective relationship with Jesus Christ. Then, praise the Lord, approximately 15 years ago in Vancouver, B.C, Canada, (in my late 50s) God directed my life along the greatest and most wonderful pathway to find the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. Their writings provided the answer to my pressing desire for a deeper and more meaningful personal relationship with my Lord Jesus Christ. Coinciding with this, the Lord made it so clear to me that my christening as an infant was merely an introductory step in my spiritual development. The Lord gave me the Scripture in John 3:5 Truly, I say to you, unless a man is born of water and the Spirit, He cannot enter into the kingdom of God. I realized that as a mature adult I needed to make a vital decision related to baptism; therefore on May 6, 1984 in Vancouver, BC Canada, I made an open declaration through baptism (immersion) to dedicate my life in its entirety to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ--thus fulfilling the Scripture which states that one must be born of water and the Spirit. Throughout the past 15 years God has revealed many of His divine riches through the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, which has enabled me to gain the Lord more abundantly in a really extraordinary and enriching way. How wonderful it is to realize that we have a sovereign, holy, and righteous God, who administrates and rules from His throne in the heavenlies (far above everything) - He is the source of absolutely everything. Secondly, we have His Son--our redeeming Savior--our Lord Jesus Christ, who shepherds, directs, and leads us along the divine pathway to bring us to spiritual maturity. Thirdly, the Holy Spirit mingles with the human spirit of each individual who accepts Jesus Christ into his/her life (1 Corinthians 6:17; Romans 8:16). It was just such a mingling of the Holy Spirit with my spirit, which proved to be such a notable reality in my life. I knew then and, know now, that I am absolutely a child of God. What a magnificent, glorious, and loving Father I have. As the Triune God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), He is the reality and answer to the vital meaning of LIFE. He is my full supply and provides me with abundant satisfaction. B.D.S. | Back to List |
